Kerem - Very classy! We like your shots, but we feel they are too dark, and unnecessarily busy. Your third submissions in particular is very classy and they all look like something you would see in a magazine. We also like the vignetting that you used. Your second submission is a good concept and has great tones, but the placement of the objects is a little bit awkward. It wouldn't really make sense if someone was sitting there and there's a lack of central motion to the photograph. You seem to have photographed scenes, rather than items. During the course of the compitition, you were solid, and you photos were always clean and consise.

Mandy -You came up with some very unique photographs and we like that each one is different. "Sex" on the cupcake is a great wild-card. Incredible uses of colour and organisation. The layouts are perfect. Brilliant captures! "Peppers" is very abstract, but we think it lacks the "pop" and technical quality that your other two submissions have. However, overall, during the compitition, you weren't afriad to take risks but sometimes it didn't work.

Photoshoot 3(C2): You Creep Me Out

DETAILS: For this challenge you'll be taking 6 photos of scary and or horrific images and or scenes. This challenge is all about creative vision and capturing a mood within your photos. we want the photos to tell a story, so with this, I've assigned you phobias to base your photos around.

PHOTOSHOOTS: Challenge 3 Photoshoots

Critique--------
Kerem - You freak us out the most! We think you captured this pretty well, but the shots didn't grab one of the judges. You used an excellent variation of poses and the aesthetic quality is flawless and creates the perfect scary mood.

Mandy -Very unique style and we really like that you interpreted your phobia. However, we would think that being blind and deaf would give you the opposite feeling of claustrophobia since you wouldn't know where everything is compared to being trapped. However, we like the simplicity in your shots. Well captured!

Rebecca - Excellent depiction and we really like how you took something that is normally cuddle and turned it into a massacre! It adds another fear to your intended phobia because so many movies are about dolls (like the infamous Chucky) going bad and killing everyone. Since you chose a black background, I would've liked to to have been burned to complete darkness so we couldn't see the wrinkles. Using toys instead of people is refreshing. Well done. You could have also gotten a great effect if you used a normal bedroom setting.

Photoshoot 2(C2): Never-Never Land

Please no man-made objects in these photos, and no humans or animals.

IMAGES: All photos must be either 800x600. THEY SHOULD BE IN COLOR! 6 PHOTOS!

Winner: Kerem - You're submissions by far stand out the most because they don't use the traditional blues and purples that we see so often in landscape photographs. We like the style of your shots, however we feel that the colours are slightly repetitive. Yes, you followed a unique style as described in the challenge description, but one of us feel you could have captured different aspects of this bleak environment. Photo 001 shouldn't have so much foreground unless there is an object to disrupt the constant texture. Despite this; nice selection.

Mandy -Interesting angles! We really like how Spring Time Sunset and Spring Time Hills really contrast each other in style. I particularly like the colour and variety in your pieces, and how you have decided to use different locations to fit into the description. We wish that "Afternoon" was sharper though.

Muge - Great use of textures and it's clear that the texture is the most important part of the photographs. Try not to watch your horizon and use rule of thirds. However we don't think the shots fully fit the description. These photos seem to focus on the sky much more than the actual qualities of the landscapes...and although they are nicely captured, we think the artist could have made more effort to find something land bound to photograph.

Muhammad - Awesome vignetting and post production adjustments for color and contrast. We like the blacked out horizon but wish that either it had more detail in it or was closer to the bottom of the photograph since it seems to be more of a frame. Again, lots of sky but this is balanced by the use of silohuettes. we love the variety of colours in this series.

Rebecca - Great locations! Lovely colour captured in the ocean here, and a nice variety of different times have been photographed. All of the colors and composition is dead on. We just didn't like that a lot of highlights were blown out (particularly in the sky). We like these shots, but they don't grab us like other waterscapes tend to.

Photoshoot 1(C2): In Black and White

DETAILS: This challenge is all about lighting, composition, and what it takes to bring a great photograph to life. You'll be taking black and white portraits. You can only use humans in the photoshoot but other animals are allowed as long as they aren't the main focus. You can use any number of people that you would like, but since everyone is using the same colors, you should use your own personal style to get your point across.

IMAGES: All photos must be either 800x600 or 600x800. THEY SHOULD BE IN BLACK AND WHITE! 6 PHOTOS!

Hannah- Great photoshoot! We really like that your style is consistant and it looks like it all belongs together, and that the locations are very much the same. All of your editing looks good: smooth tones, smooth skin, contrast. Using dark makeup in black and white photographs is hard. In 7321 one of us felt the makeup was a little bit awkward and might have looked good if it was vibrant colors, but not quite as black. In the second version, "shy," the makeup looks like tears so there is a mood and the black makeup has more of a purpose. We're speechless...

Insan - Overall it's a strong submission and you have an excellent choice of models., but we'd have liked to have seen at least one close up classic portrait in the set. And we think that "Mdee" (I think that's the shot's name) could do with a little more contrast. The style of contrast and exposure is a little bit hodge podge. Half of the photographs have a mood and try to tell a story while others say "hey, i'm standing in front of the camera." Try and avoid the ladder of the two. Apart from that, awesome stuff.

Joe - We love your concepts! We also like your usage of bold black and white tones...especially on the shot titled "Black and White". Good mixture of classic and conceptual. Some seem to be a little bit over exposed but it's consistant so it's clear that it's your style and it works. You also did a good job of splitting the theme: traditional portraits for half and abstract closeups for the rest. A pleasure to view. :)

Kerem - We love the contrast and the sharpness really stands out against the other deviants. Consistant style too, but pictures 02, 04, 05 look too related and progressively loose impact. A great photographer can use the same lighting, same subject, and same clothes, and the same photoshoot, and get completely different looking photographs. Try and get the model to change emotions and posture. There is very dramatic lighting, which is great. However, the lighting doesn't feature much in the other shots though.

Mandy - Every photograph tells a story. Nice variety, although a close up classic shot would've conveyed more emotion and injected a little more life. We like how they all look like they belong in the same city or even work with each other; they all have the same problems in life. Try not to sacrifice skin tones in your efforts to get contrast and please take more. Despite that, great models and concepts.

Muge - The first time we saw lens06 was on the home page in the "recent fashion photographs" page and we were blown away. Then I was surprised when I saw it was for non other than Project Lens. Without a doubt it's the best photograph for this round. However, the rest of the pictures look like they were taken by a different photographer. The sharpness, contrast, exposure, are all different. lens05 would also be a really strong photograph if we could see a silhouette of her face too. We feel lighting could have been used more constructively on some shots though...perhaps a more harsh side lighting on "lens06" would have given the shot more life? Great photograph though.

Muhammad - It looks like you brought your camera to school one day and took a bunch of pictures. We love it. Interesting range of emotions, although we feel the completely white background was too harsh for a couple of these pieces.

Winner:
Rebecca - Brilliant captures! We particularly like how this photographer can pick out one person amongst others and give them a story. We also love their usage of lighting. We think this is the strongest overall set of submissions. "2" doesn't really do anything for one of us. A little too snapshotty maybe? The rest of the photographs have great emotions and they really connect with the camera. It also looks like you put a lot of time and energy into these pictures.

Will - Nice locations and concepts. Very consistent style. We like the concept and framing in "photo lens 2." They all seem to need the shadows darkened because they're a little bit flat. If all of these were taken with the strobe as it is shown in "pl2," then we really recommend getting an umbrella and reflectors to fill in all of the awkward shadows.
